Adobe Animate

Recently, we were introduced to another Adobe program called Animate, which is designed for the creation of fbf animation and motion graphics. I have already worked a little with Animate, so I wasn’t entirely new to it and could operate with some of the main features and tools. Whilst it was great to recap some of my baseline skills and learn some new things, I have plans to look at this program more in-depth and broaden my understanding of the more technical side, since that is where I feel most work is needed. The first animation we created using the […]

Confetti Ident

A mini project that we did recently was creating an ident for Confetti. This task was to be completed in teams and since we only had about a week, it was a group effort for sure. Once we were assigned to a team (groups of four), we dove in and started brainstorming right away. I made sure to write everything down and we started discussing roles and planning how we were going to present everything and keep ourselves organised. The whole process was really fun for me and really gave me a chance to work on my teamwork skills. I […]

Culture Hunt

My Culture Moodboard   To make a start to the brief and begin gathering inspiration and ideas, we went on a ‘culture hunt’ which involved looking into our own lives and the things we surround ourselves with. Namely, I had a chance to think about my culture, what that meant and how it could help with the brief. The first task was to spend 1o minutes drawing something, and this was done four times so that we had a few images to look back on and try and establish a personal aesthetic. Here are all of my drawings, which I […]

Skinball

We recently learned about a technique used a lot in the VFX and animation industry involving making a ‘skinball’ as a colour reference to use when applying skin tones.     Firstly, we did a quick exercise on drawing hands, something which is known to be notoriously difficult in the artistic world and which a lot of people, myself included, struggle with. This is why I was so excited to learn a new technique that could possibly make the whole process a lot easier. We started in a rather strange way, being asked to draw a gravestone and add three […]
