For this lesson, our focus was on principle one and five of animation. We were given a squash rig, which is an asset that is already set up with no controllers and enables use so that we can create squash and stretch. It seemed very simple to me at first – look a the example of the square bouncing up and down, squashing and stretching, and recreate it. However, this proved to be far more difficult than I thought. I can work with the basics in After Effects fairly well now, so I succeeded in making the square bounce, and […]

Staggering
Recap: Hold ctrl and double click pan behind – centres anchor point Ctrl + N – new composition Easy ease in – Ease into a destination Interpolation – filling in unknown data between keyframes This time, we learned about staggering keyframes and how to stagger layers. Staggering in terms of animation just means one after another, like steps. In After Effects, we made a basic animation of two squares growing larger and overshooting. I added easy ease and separated the dimensions of the shape layer. In graph editor, like before, I made sure the line was not linear and using […]
First Lesson With Adobe Illustrator
The lesson began by identifying the difference between vectors and pixels. As the basis of nearly every image format worth using, they can easily be confused and it was useful to learn the proper definition for each. Pixels are literal blocks of an image, simulating the points on a screen. They can be used in a variety of ways to create art and game art. For example, when many tiny pixels are put together and zoomed out, an image is created which doesn’t look pixelated at all, but, going in the opposite direction, making the pixels larger and more obvious […]
2D Animations & Motion Graphics
In this lesson, we learned about speed and dimension in animation. Our first task was to make a circle move from left to right, in order to refresh the skills we learned from the previous week. Then, we applied something new to our animation using keyframe assistant. It was a subtle, smooth effect, that when applied, changed the speed of the beginning and end of the animation, for a more natural feel. It was called easy ease, easy ease in and easy ease-out, and the name says it all! The circle moved in a much more realistic way, speedy at […]
First Day
My first day at Confetti college was overall, a pleasant and educational experience. Even in the very beginning, meeting new people and introducing myself to the class encouraged me to revisit some skills that I haven’t used in a while. I stepped out of my comfort zone practised communication, observation and initiative. Throughout the day, learning new things and pushing myself to exceed expectations has motivated me to jump back into routine and focus on improving myself in the areas that I am weak at. I enjoyed exploring different programs and a new setting and I was presented with a […]
