SWOT Analysis – End of Term

This is the third and final analysis, which I have talked about in the previous SWOT posts, in terms of how it works and why it is a beneficial method of tracking progress. Even though this is the last SWOT for this term and I should have a lot to reflect on, I actually struggled the most with filling this one out, as things have felt quite static since the last one in relation to my personal development.

I didn’t really have much of an idea for what to put in the strengths box, which is quite different from the middle of the term. I think this reflects my attitude towards the work at the minute, which is mainly worry that I will not be able to complete everything I need to, which is something I have expressed as a weakness and something I would really like to improve on. I did put however that I presented for my group, which isn’t exactly a strength, but I do feel proud of doing it (as it did scare me) and the strength it gave me to continue opening up and working on my confidence in presenting. For this reason, I also put it in weaknesses, because it is something that I want to keep building on and working at.

Another big thing I have noticed is my prioritisation capabilities, which are apparently quite lacking. I always seem to be doing work that contributes to the project but doesn’t feel like the most urgent/important. I believe this links into my tendency to procrastinate, which, although has greatly improved, still clearly needs work. The opportunities that I have noted down are the most beneficial ones to me as of this time; being able to communicate with my peers and tutors has been critical for feedback and help with my project. Without this, I would not have made certain changes or pushed myself to do certain things, which is why it is definitely an advantageous opportunity for me. Next week is Industry Week, which is the one I think will be most constructive and helpful for me, as I will get to talk to and hear from real workers in the animation and VFX industry. This is a great opportunity to hear about my goal for the future more in-depth, and although I may have trouble concentrating as it is online, I will use the time to listen and work on something meanwhile, so I hope it is a productive week!
