Colour Tones and Hierarchy

H//S//B– Represents somethings colour, its intensity and its value

Hue– What colour something actually is, identifiable by a number

Saturation– How colourful something is, desaturated means no colour

Brightness– Can also be called lightness or value

This is the original version of this image pre-editing

To experiment with saturation I duplicated my image three times and made each copy a different saturation value.

The first image has a saturation of +100 the second 0 and the third has a saturation of -100

By using photoshop, I experimented with saturation in 3 different images. By using clipping masks I was able to edit these images separately without them affecting each other.

Following this, on the same images, I used the black/white tool to change around these images and make parts whiter and blacker.

Colour Tones– CMYK, RBG, Greyscale are all composed of tones

Monotone– A colour palette using only 1 tone and its saturation levels

Duotone– A colour palette using only 2 separate tones simultaneously

Tritone– A colour pallette combining 3 different tones together

Task- Create an album cover using Duotones

To make my photo with tritone I first had to open my image in photoshop and make it greyscale. By clicking on IMAGE<MODE<DUOTONE when the options menu came up for this I could add more colours to alter, I added an extra colour to make my image tritone so I could experiment further. I used three colours to get my green like a filter to cover my image like the green mixes into the colour scheme of the show this character is from.
