Culture moodboard
For a mood board, we drew four things that were about things we like. Things like favourite possessions, hobbies, places, and people. Here are the things I drew for each one: My drawing of my gaming pc for favourite possession as I use it every day to play games on and do work on: My drawing of a video game controller for the favourite hobby as I enjoy playing video games a lot: My drawing of a house for my favourite place as I enjoy staying at home: I didn’t draw them but Masahiro Sakurai for a favourite person as […]
My Culture Representation
Stereotypes are the common representation of something and can describe things quickly. But these can be dangerous as people can generalise about things and cause offence to people. Examples of stereotypes in the UK are: being smartly dressed, drink tea, polite, queueing, speak Queen’s English, it’s always raining, only speaking English, and the food being bland and inedible. We are famous for our fish and chips. English people like to binge drink and drink a lot of alcohol and get drunk especially on holiday which caused a bad representation of English people. I played a game of geoguesser where we […]
Adobe animate
I made an animation of a bouncing ball using animate We were first introduced to Adobe animate where we learnt the basics of animating. We made keyframes and drew a new shape on each keyframe We used onion skinning to se previous frames so animating will be easier I made an animation of someone blinking using animate. I reversed the keyframes at the end and I added some blank keyframes to slow down the speed of the animation. I made an animation of a caterpillar where I converted the vector drawing to a bitmap and used the asset warp tool […]
Blog reflections
I did some blog feedback for my fantasy brief and went through my blog posts about my brief to see what was good or bad about them and where I need to improve. Also, to look at what I thought when I first saw the brief and looking back now: I made a SMART target for my future self to use during the culture brief: The smart target, doing more research, will hopefully help me to get a better understanding of something, which in turn will help with my concept and ideas for it. I will achieve this by watching […]
VFX Composition – blending modes and textures
What did I do? I made a title sequence using blending modes and textures. I placed a background texture behind a person and added some text that reveals the characters name. What went well? I managed to make a character name reveal without any problems as I followed the PowerPoint tutorial. Even better if? I didn’t have many problems when making this, but I could try and make a better transition for the text. What could I use this for my work going forward? This could be useful for a title sequence where I reveal a character’s name with a […]
Double exposure image
In today’s lesson, we made a double exposure image in photoshop. Double exposure is a visual effect where you use two images to create one image by having one image overlaid onto another image. It can be used as an artistic visual effect for creating a surreal feeling for your photos and creating deep meaning or symbolism behind it. I’m not sure wherever it is suitable for my brief or not as I could use something like this in a title sequence like a double exposure image of a character’s face and some fire. But I do not have any […]
Fantasy Brief Character Profile
In today’s lesson, we made character profiles for our characters. I made one for the hero Zeph: I made one for the Villain:

Parallax effect
In this lesson, we looked at the parallax effect which is also known as 2.5D. This is when an object is viewed from different positions and it appears to differ depending on which way you look at it eg. through a viewfinder in a camera will be different from what you get in a photograph. The parallax effect is a modern web design technique, the background of the image scrolls slower than the foreground content. This can add depth to the background image and make it feel interactive. A good example would be, look out the window when driving on […]
