In today’s lesson, we looked at the design justification of our characters or backgrounds in our fantasy briefs. I chose a hero and a villain character because, in fantasy, there is always a hero and a villain as it is a staple to stories. In The Hobbit, the necromancer and the main antagonist was Azorg the defiler. These were shown as dark and disfigured characters. This automatically made you think they were evil and the music changed to set the mood. The heroes were the dwarves and the hobbit, they were as good-humoured, singing and dancing and drinking. They looked […]

30 minute fantasy poster
We were given approx. 30 minutes to create a fantasy poster. I made a poster for my fantasy brief Flames Of Oblivion The techniques I used: I put a fire background over the entire poster I placed some text saying “The War Must End” and “Flames Of Oblivion” on the poster and changed the colours and the font to best suit the theme of the poster. I found an image of a hand holding a sword and placed it into the poster and copy-pasted it and reflected it and arranged them to look like the swords were clashing. I tried […]
Gender Representation Thursday online lesson resub
In this session, we looked at gender representation in media through film/tv shows or games. We also looked at the gender representation of our fantasy brief characters. I learnt this by researching Metroid Prime 2 and the character of Samus. Gender representation in Fantasy films, these films and novels are very much male-driven and have a strong male representation, this is true especially in the earlier films. Lord of The Rings […]
Fantasy Brief R&D, pre-production, skills and production
We have been told to do a fantasy assignment brief where we make some character designs, a poster campaign, a title sequence, and a 10-second animation for a Netflix animated series. For my brief, I have decided on naming the series “The Flame Of Oblivion”. The basic plotline I’ve thought of for this is that there is a city where the main hero Zeph now lives and he seeks to destroy the stones of desire before it gets in the wrong hands and becomes the flame of oblivion, which can cause death and destruction. The series will be split into […]
