Legal and Ethical Consideration Pre-Production

In today’s lesson, we looked at legal and ethical considerations for our fantasy brief. Ethics are a system of moral principles that consider what is good for individuals and society and also described as moral philosophy. There are some films/tv that were released decades ago that were alright at the time but nowadays they would be considered unethical. For example the 2006 film Borat. Filmmakers need to take ethics into consideration because they have a responsibility to be fair and inoffensive and try and be morally correct. They need to keep the wide audience happy with the content they are […]

Double exposure image

In today’s lesson, we made a double exposure image in photoshop. Double exposure is a visual effect where you use two images to create one image by having one image overlaid onto another image. It can be used as an artistic visual effect for creating a surreal feeling for your photos and creating deep meaning or symbolism behind it. I’m not sure wherever it is suitable for my brief or not as I could use something like this in a title sequence like a double exposure image of a character’s face and some fire. But I do not have any […]

Double exposure 2

In todays lesson, we made a double exposure video with track mattes. Double exposure is combining two different images with two different exposures. It was originally called the ghost effect. Before, it was using the same bit of film twice which is destructive as it permanently changes it. Now we can do it digitally meaning we can do it as many times as we like and we can undo it if we don’t like it. Alpha channels control opacity & what parts of a digital image is transparent. White = keep, grey = blended, black = remove Track mattes are invisible […]

With inclusions of recognisable aspects, characteristics or predicaments relating to one, or multiple, ways in which diverse groups can live their lives. In a lot of the older American films, black people were mostly portrayed as the bad guys, poor guys, and not very bright. Whereas the white people in the films were portrayed as […]

For age: Zeph is 21 years old, he has a slim muscular build and youthful looks. It is clear when looking at him, he is a young adult as he has a youthful appearance. He has no wrinkles or grey hair, He is standing proud. He wears his hair shaved at the sides […]

Short matte painting sequence

In today’s lesson, we made a short matte painting sequence Matte paintings have been around since the 19th century, they were originally glass paintings that were used in famous films to create fake scenery, to make landscapes, or a set, giving a fake illusion of an environment. It makes things look grander so it is more specific to the brief. Paint or pastels were used to physically paint a photorealistic scene on the glass. Matte paintings are now made digitally. This technique is often used when it would otherwise be too expensive, inconvenient or impossible to achieve by filming live. […]
