SWOT analysis end of term resub

SWOT analysis charts are a way of showing your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats at a certain time. This is good for college tutors to see where your concerns might be and also where you might excel. If there are any issues, then these can be addressed and you can set yourself targets to overcome weaknesses and threats. A SWOT analysis is beneficial to the tutor so they know the person understands what they do that term. End of Term SWOT: New:

Kanban chart resub

Kanban charts are a scheduling system that tells you what to produce, when to produce it, and how much to produce. It is a visual system for managing work as it moves through a process. Kanban visualizes both the process and the actual work passing through that process. The goal of Kanban is to identify potential bottleneck in your process and fix them so work can flow through it cost-effectively at an optimal speed or throughput. In a Kanban chart, there are three columns: To Do, Doing, and Completed. This system was invented by Toyota. I am going to use […]

Flame Of Oblivion animation storyboard

I made a storyboard to show how my animation will work and I can put my ideas into it before I make the final animation. I can easily see if I like or agree with my ideas before finalising them. First frame is Bartosz approaching Zeph through the flames, second frame is Bartosz saying “Its over Zeph! the city is ours!”, third frame is a close up of zeph getting mad, fourth frame is Zeph saying “The stone isn’t yours! it doesn’t belong to you!”, fifth frame is Bartosz smirking, in the final frame, both charge at each other and […]

Fantasy Brief Research resub

For my Fantasy brief research, I have decided to primarily base my idea on the Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit trilogy as there are similarities in my series and the lord of the rings series. Most of my ideas came from my head through random thoughts and during tasks in online lessons. I made a mood board to share my thoughts and ideas: The current plot idea: History of the stones: This will be explained at the very beginning of the series: Many hundreds of years ago, a powerful sorcerer named Straviar sought to rule the known world and […]

Fantasy Brief Final Character Designs

Now with shading: These are my main characters the good guy Zeph and the villain Bartosz on the right. I have added shading to the men to make them look more realistic, show light and add the illusion of form, depth and dimension. I have tried to make them look less flat and to have a more three-dimensional look. I think that Zeph especially has come a long way from the silhouette drawing that I started with.

Concept Art and Environment

In today’s lesson, we looked at types of concept art and then we made concept art for our briefs. Concept art is a visual representation of an idea, design or mood created by concept artists for the producer and director to look over and approve of. It should at a glance, convey the overall elements and not be focused on detail. Good concept art makes use of Composition, Simple & Readable Forms, Interesting Tones & Textures, Contrast and Range, Thematic Colour Palette, Colour Harmony The types of Concept art are: Greyscale compositions – made using grey tones, black and white […]

12 Principles of Animation resub

In today’s lesson we learned about the 12 principles, stages of animation. This is Disney’s Animators Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston guide to how objects and characters should behave when they are animated. I have added some examples where they are used in animation 1: Squash & Stretch, this is to give your object for example, the illusion of gravity and flexibility. A ball that bounces stretches when it is thrown but squishes if it hits a hard surface. Something that is lighter in weight will have more squash and stretch to something that is heavier. When you are animating […]

Flame Of Oblivion animation

The blog post for my fantasy brief animation will be a full-on scene where Zeph and Bartosz are about to have a major battle in the city of men. The final animation will have music and sound effects and voice lines. This post will be updated whenever I have done more work for the animation. All 6 scenes have the fire and smoke effect I learned from a previous online lesson. Scene 1: Development screenshots: Early scene: I decided to take feedback from an online session where we showed our work for our briefs and I added a floor and […]

The Flame Of Oblivion final poster for brief

Here is my poster for the Fantasy Brief, as you can see I have been developing and making improvements to it. I have taken into consideration poster techniques that we learnt about in previous lessons. I decided to keep my poster simple as sometimes more can be said by adding less. The main object in the series is the Flame of Oblivion, (the orange stone) I have tried to centralise this in the middle of the poster, the two characters in my series are fighting for this stone so they are an important part of the poster and are also […]

Legal and Ethical Consideration Pre-Production

In today’s lesson, we looked at legal and ethical considerations for our fantasy brief. Ethics are a system of moral principles that consider what is good for individuals and society and also described as moral philosophy. There are some films/tv that were released decades ago that were alright at the time but nowadays they would be considered unethical. For example the 2006 film Borat. Filmmakers need to take ethics into consideration because they have a responsibility to be fair and inoffensive and try and be morally correct. They need to keep the wide audience happy with the content they are […]
