Adobe animate
I made an animation of a bouncing ball using animate We were first introduced to Adobe animate where we learnt the basics of animating. We made keyframes and drew a new shape on each keyframe We used onion skinning to se previous frames so animating will be easier I made an animation of someone blinking using animate. I reversed the keyframes at the end and I added some blank keyframes to slow down the speed of the animation. I made an animation of a caterpillar where I converted the vector drawing to a bitmap and used the asset warp tool […]
Blog reflections
I did some blog feedback for my fantasy brief and went through my blog posts about my brief to see what was good or bad about them and where I need to improve. Also, to look at what I thought when I first saw the brief and looking back now: I made a SMART target for my future self to use during the culture brief: The smart target, doing more research, will hopefully help me to get a better understanding of something, which in turn will help with my concept and ideas for it. I will achieve this by watching […]

VFX Composition – blending modes and textures
What did I do? I made a title sequence using blending modes and textures. I placed a background texture behind a person and added some text that reveals the characters name. What went well? I managed to make a character name reveal without any problems as I followed the PowerPoint tutorial. Even better if? I didn’t have many problems when making this, but I could try and make a better transition for the text. What could I use this for my work going forward? This could be useful for a title sequence where I reveal a character’s name with a […]
Title sequence example
Even though I never planned on making a title sequence and did an animation instead, I made a test animation for what a title sequence could look like. I reused the matte painting I made and added a flash at the start to show the fog more clearly as the fog slowly disappears to reveal a scene. I could use this as the opening scene.
Colour theory resub
Colour theory is the art and science of colour mixing and the visual effects of a specific colour combination. There are many different colour definitions on the colour wheel like primary, secondary and tertiary colour. Colours I used on Zeph and Bartosz using Adobe Colour: Zeph has bright colours and stands out more even though he was brought up by the elves and they have more green and brown colours. I chose these colours so he appears different from the elves as Zeph is human. I wanted him to look joyful and kind and for him to stand out to […]
Genre and conventions
What is Genre: Genre is the classification of any media into a category or type, For example: horror, sci-fi, crime, action, drama, thriller and others. If the audience enjoys the theme of horror, they will usually enjoy other types of media related to the same theme, example: movies, games, books, etc. Conventions of Genre: In every genre, there are conventions. These are story elements that define each genre with formulas or structures to help define the reader’s expectations. There will be conventional scenes which form characteristic settings or periods, For example, Prehistoric, Roman, Viking, Medieval, modern day, tomorrow, urban or […]
Bauhaus Logo Design resub
Bauhaus design was founded just a few years after the first world war at the Bauhaus Art School in Berlin 1919-1933. It signalled a change from emotional expressionism to rational, functional and more simple matter of fact design. It is associated with the beginning of modernism. The school was closed down by the Nazis just before world war two as it was deemed to be too liberal and contemporary rubbish. However, it survived as an art style as it could easily be applied to functional designs and environments. The five characteristics of Bauhaus design are: Form follows function, this means […]
