Semiotics are the study of signs and symbols and how they are interpretated.

Denotations are the primary meaning of a word.

Connotations are words that link to another word or image.

An example of a denotation is an orange is orange as it describes its colour

An example of a connotation is the colour orange meaning happy emotions.
