The morning show analysis

How does this opening scene build up tension?

The lighting is very dark and there are a lot of different production stills which then cuts to a person on the floor where the sound gets progressively louder until his phone ringing alerts him. Low-key lighting is used to describe the illusion of dramatic tone from itself and the music.

What genre would you assume this is and why?

Mystery, as there is dark lighting throughout the first minute of the scene

Sound is really important in this opening sequence – what do you think this symbolises?

We don’t hear what the other person is saying on the phone. We can only hear one side.
