Introduction
For this week beginning the 20th June, I have been tasked with creating a piece of digital media for LGBTQ+ pride month. This blog post details my creative process.
Planning
My plan is to create a 2D poster. Here is a slide I created in the lesson’s group power point to explain my initial ideas:
And here is a slide to outline a schedule for my project that I created in another group powerpoint:
Sketches
To plan out what I was going to create beforehand, I drew two potential sketches. These would help me to chose a final design for my poster. Here they are seen below:
The sketch on the left is the first design I drew, and the sketch on the right was the second.
In my first design, I decided to use the peace symbol with the colours of the LGBTQ+ pride flag (which I annotated using the acronym ROYGBI) against an image of the world, as I thought that it conveyed a clear message.
In the second design, I decided to incorporate the pride flag like a ring around the world (once again annotated using the acronym ROYGBI) to represent LGBTQ+ people all over the world.
I then decided to use the first design for my poster, as I thought it was the most interesting and distinctive, and better designed than the second.
Here is my final poster design.
