Introduction
In this lesson, we used the CC Sphere effect to create an animation of a rotating globe, and then the CC Cylinder effect to animate some text.
CC Sphere
We followed the tutor’s instruction and downloaded high-res images of the world map and a space background, and from there we imported the images into after effects.
From there, we added the CC Sphere texture by searching it in the effects and presets tab.
We then rotated the sphere by changing the rotation on the y axis in the effect settings.
Here is my rendered video.
CC Cylinder
To practise using the CC Cylinder tool, we then added a text layer in front of the earth.
we then added the CC Cylinder tool, and changed the cylinder’s radius to make the text bigger than the earth.
We then isolated the text on the outside of the sphere, and duplicated the text layer. Once we isolated the text on the inside of the sphere, we moved that text behind the earth, and so it looked as though the text was rotating around the earth, and not rotating in front of it. Keyframing this rotation gave us an animation:
Applying CC Sphere
I created an asset of some stripes, and applied the CC Sphere tool to make them wrap around into a sphere. I then rotated the stripes to create a lattice/spiral effect.
Conclusion
Today I learned how to use the CC Sphere and CC Cylinder effects. I could apply these to my own works.
