Production Post Mortem.

Introduction.

A production post mortem is used to reflect on a production, and what went well about it, and anything that you could improve upon in the next production.

STAR method

The star method is a way of reflecting on a production – answering all the necessary questions to make sure that every detail of the information is given.

  • Situation (what was the issue?)
  • Task (what was required from you?)
  • Action (what did you do?)
  • Response (what was the impact of your actions?)

What went well?

I think that my written work went well – I was required to detail the various stages of my production in these blog posts, and I was able to complete this written work to a standard that I am satisfied with and that matches the grades predicted to me by my tutors.

What could have been improved?

I think that I could have managed my time and available resources more effectively – I didn’t have the full 15 second long video completed by the deadline as was required of me, and so at least now I am aware of what to expect for the next assignment so that I don’t run into the same issues again.

What would you do differently next time?

I would consider using different software to animate my production in – I used blender, and Confetti computers (or at least the ones I used) do not have blender installed and so I couldn’t really animate anything for my final production in lesson – I instead did all of the written work in lesson, and other things like producing concept art and backgrounds. In retrospect, It would have been more convenient for me to work on my animation both at Confetti and at home, and I would have probably gotten the animation finished on time.
