Introduction.
Today in the lesson, we will be creating environment concept art, and exploring methods and theories of designing landscapes. This will be useful for the pre-production of my fantasy brief by creating concept art.
Linear Perspective.
Linear perspective is the use of horizon lines and vanishing points in a composition to create the illusion of depth in a 2D drawing or painting. Below are some examples of linear perspective.
The vanishing point is the point in the space represented in the drawing that is furthest away from the viewer.
Landscape Theory – Basic Compostion.
All emvironmentsd are based on these main elements of compostion:
- The foreground
- The midground
- The background
- The horizon
Here are some clear examples of the foreground, midground and background in pieces of art.
Atmospheric perspective.
Atmospheric perspective is the affect that the atmosphere has on objects that are viewed from far away. As landscapes appear further and further away, their saturation decreases, giving a fading effect. Here are some examples.
here is an environment that i created from following a demonstration by my tutor.
