Bass VS Lichtenstein

Introduction

In today’s lesson, we will be looking at the art of Saul Bass and Roy Lichtenstein. We will be creating our own version of some of their work.

Saul Bass.

Saul Bass was a graphic designer who is best known for designing film posters and title sequences. He designed the posters for Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo, Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining and has worked with directors like Otto Preminger and Martin Scorsese.

He first became well known in the film industry after creating the title sequence for Otto Preminger’s 1955 film The Man with the Golden Arm – and also created the credit sequence for Pyscho.

Roy Lichtenstein.

Lichtenstein was an American pop artist. He helped to develop the pop art movement along with Andy Warhol and Jasper Johns and other big artists in the 1960s. His work was inspired by comic strips.
