Generating ideas for my fantasy assignment. version 1

Introduction.

The question i tried to answer when beginning to think about my assignment was: how can i create a concept for a tv show that will fit into a 15 second intro? i think, by scaling down the concept to be short and concise. this means that in order to make my final project work, i only need to have a basic story concept as i’m only creating an intro for a tv show and not the entire show. usually, intro sequences for big tv shows like game of thrones and the walking dead last for a minute – showing the extensive setting, world and story of the show, the genre and characters – but since my sequence will only be 15 seconds, i don’t need to consider every detail of the show’s world, every part of the story, or every tiny detail of the characters’ lives. providing this outline of what i need to create ideas for – characters, a basic setting, and a rough concept for a story – will help me to generate ideas, as i have ‘set out a template for me to fill’.

analysing a short intro.

this will help with storyboarding and the structure of my intro.

In order to be able to fit my story ideas into just 15 seconds of introduction, i have chosen to look at a short tv show intro that came to mind when considering the length of my intro sequence. The intro i’m going to analyse is for the show bigtop burger, which is a webseries on youtube with short episodes that focus on animation and comedy. i think that by breaking down the elements of a short intro sequence for a tv show and seeing how it works, i will be able to generate ideas for my own intro, and i think that it will help with storyboarding, and seeing how could lay out the shots of my video. i chose to analyse a short intro rather than a minute long intro, because it will help figure out the pacing and types of camera shots to use for my video, which will end up being similar.

i intend to animate my intro sequence in 2D.

here is the link to a full episode of the show, but readers of this blog would only need to watch the first 15 seconds or so to know what im talking about.
