blacklisting:
a blacklist is a list of people or companies who are banned from working at a specific company or in an industry.
it is used as a punishment for someone that has done something bad enough to not be trusted to work in the industry again. e.g someone who leaked a movie is no longer reliable to work on any other movie.
fixed bids:
a fixed bid is the total cost to a client for having vfx work done. this means that the vfx artists will only recieve payment that has been agreed upon in the fixed bid.
meaning that if there are delays or extensions to the vfx work, artists will not recieve overtime or additional money for their work.
e.g with the sonic movie, vfx artists had to work unpaid overtime for 4 months to fix sonics face.
lessons from covid in the vfx industry:
working from home is now normalised and will support people who need to work from home. l and there is a greater expectation for companies to safeguard their employees health and wellbeing.
the vfx industry is very competitive, as it is an industry where people are able to work from home just as effectively as in an office.
