Professional Development – Objectives and Key Results (OKR)

what do i want to be proud of in the next 5 years?

  • finishing college.
  • i’d like to go travelling – i don’t know if that’s something to be proud of but still.
  • probably gaining some kind of online following where i can make stuff that people will like looking at.
  • i’d like to go to a convention as an artist and have a table.

OKR

OKR is used to set and manage goals.

a goal is made up of an objective and key results.

example objective: to produce a professional looking 10 seconds 2D animation.

example key results:

  • character key result – practise character drawing in your free time.
  • career key result – read the animator’s survival guide or watch on youtube.
  • qualification key result – log the development of the animation onto the blog.

My OKR stuff:

  • objective: this term, i want to get back into drawing digitally and produce some drawings or animations that i’m proud of.
  • explanation: this is because my computer is currently broken, and i need to get it fixed before i can draw/animate/model on there. i have an ipad that i could draw on, but i don’t have the pen for it – so by the end of the term, i’d like to just get myself sorted before i try and do bigger things like a longer animation for my portfolio.
  • character key result: to get my computer fixed and buy a pen to use with my ipad.
  • career key result: research the types of pen that can be used with an ipad so i know that i am making the right choice for my career as an artist in the future.
  • qualification key result: once i have everything fixed, i can upload my drawings to the blog to show that i’m back into drawing digitally.

Update:

As of the 3rd of December, i have bought a pen to use with my ipad and i now use procreate to draw and produce digital art.  I use a logitech crayon pen shown in the image below.
