what skills do they need for the job?
animators need to have a technical understanding of the way things move, in order to portray movement accurately. they also need an understanding of the ways that characters show emotion through facial expressions and body language. in terms of technical skills, they need to be confident in using computers and graphics software (if they are working digitally) and to have drawing skills, as well as the attention to detail required to make a well designed and detailed character move as if they had their own personality.
what education/training is needed?
Typically, a job as an animator at a production company requires a bachelor’s degree in a related subject such as: animation, fine art or graphic design. The job may also require a portfolio or showreel of work that the animator has done previously, as well as good technical skills and knowledge.
