Introduction
This blog post is the profile of the target audience of my animation that I am creating for the Creative Project brief.

Target Audience
The target audience that I aim to reach is young people, between ages 12 and 21, or more generally
anyone who is interested in Science Fiction or Animation. I think that people at this age range are more
likely to be interested in watching something made by a person the same age. However, I am sure that a
person of any age could enjoy my film.
The gender of my target audience wouldn’t necessarily matter in relation to this animated film, but I think that fans of the Sci-Fi genre tend to be young men, because of the way that Science Fiction has been marketed to people historically.
As for the location of my target audience, they would likely be living in the UK because this film is being
made for Passion Pictures, which is a UK distributor. Despite this, I think my animation would be accessible to people anywhere in the world because of the internet – the film would be posted on YouTube, or the Passion Pictures website.
I think that the target audience for this project would also be fans of related media in the Sci-Fi genre. This includes IPs (intellectual properties) like Star Wars, Star Trek and Dead Space as well as some of the other media that inspired this animated short film.
In terms of values, beliefs and pain points, I don’t think that my film contains anything concrete. The civilization that the character is from, and the beliefs that they hold is purposely left vague, and so the mere act of an explorer who discovers a mysterious alien is not necessarily favouring one system of beliefs or another. Representing beliefs and values is not uncommon in Science Fiction however; there are varying religions in the galaxy of Frank Herbert’s Dune, each with their own beliefs.

Conclusion
Over all, considering a target audience was useful for my pitch presentation, as I was able to give the viewers a clearer idea of the wider context of the film, and the audience I am keeping in mind. A target audience can also be useful for thinking about what to include in the film, in order to keep the same target audience. For example if my target audience was made up of adults, I wouldn’t then create a children’s movie because the adults would likely be uninterested.
