Introduction
This blog post shows how I have managed my time during the B1 Progression Brief.
SWOT Analysis
SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats and is used to help manage a person or company’s projects and targets. For this brief, completing a SWOT analysis will help me to think about what I need to complete before the deadline and how I can complete the work considering my strengths and weaknesses, how things can go right or wrong.
- Strengths: A strength of mine in this project is that I’m already familiar with coding in HTML. This will be useful when creating my website, as using HTML will allow me to have further control over my website than a service like WIX or WordPress would give me – I believe this is important when creating a personal portfolio website like the one I’ll be making, as it allows you to present yourself professionally in a way that accurately represents you.
- Weaknesses: One potential weakness for this project is that I don’t have Adobe After Effects or Premiere Pro at home, and so creating my showreel will have to be done in-session. This weakness is easy to act on by allowing myself plenty of time in assessment periods to work on my showreel in after effects and premiere.
- Opportunities: An opportunity for this brief is that I’m creating a portfolio of work that will be very useful to present when looking for work in the creative industry. It could be that I get a job out of the work I’m completing for this brief.
- Threats: One threat that could hinder my progress would be if I didn’t complete all of the work by the deadline on the 16th of June. However, I am not worried by this threat because I have already completed most of the work for the brief (as of writing) and I’ll definitely be able to complete everything in time.
Scheduling
To help manage my time during this brief I made a Gantt chart schedule. I made it on the 6th of April.

It shows each month and the weeks in them, and the tasks I had left to complete. I pretty much followed this schedule exactly and I think I allocated a sufficient amount of time to each task.
Conclusion
Considering how I can manage my production of work for this brief has been important to understand my strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and how they might affect me during this brief. Also, using a schedule was helpful to manage my time and complete all my work before the deadline.
