Introduction
A creative CV is a CV that has been designed a lot more than a formal CV. They are used when applying for a creative job to show how creative you are as a person when applying for the job.
A creative CV considers the following elements
- Layout – Clearly separating sections of text on the cv is important, as well as using font sizes to differentiate between titles and body text and bullet points to indicate a list.
- Font – A good CV uses one easy to read and uniform font which could be Serif or Sans-serif.
- Images/Vector Graphics – If images are used, they should be high resolution. Vector graphics can be used to add stylistic creative flair.
- File formats – CVs should be prepared for printing in a pdf file format in an A4 size with CYMK colour at 300 dpi (dots per inch).
Creating My Own Creative CV
I used Canva to create my CV – They have a range of templates that you can use as a base to create your own documents and presentations and things like that.
This was the template I used:

I decided to Change the colours to a gradient to add a little bit of flair and edited each section to accurately present myself and the relevant information I’d need for a job in the industry.
I also added the logos of the software that I use because I thought it would be eye-catching and make my CV stand out from others. I think I struck a balance between professionalism and creativity with this CV.
I didn’t include my real phone number but, if I was applying for a job, I would edit my CV to include my phone number.
Conclusion
I think I considered the important elements of a creative CV when I made mine – It is laid out into clear sections with different font sizes to differentiate between headings and the body of text. The font is clear to read – a simple sans-serif font with a little stylization. The graphics I used on the software logos and contact info icons are high-res. I exported my CV in a PDF file format in A4 paper size.
Creating my CV was an important step in my career since I’ve never has a CV before, and as I gain some experience working I can update it with more info and get some secure and well-paying jobs.
