My Digital Style and Branding

Introduction

This blog post explains my digital style and branding that I have created for the B1 Progression brief on this course. This blog post shows how I researched branding style sheets before I created my own:

In short, branding style sheets are guidelines for how a company’s logo is used in different contexts. It is usually given to collaborators or freelancers working with the company so that they can create promotional content for the company using its brand.

Logo

Here is the logo for my brand – named “Eyes, Nose and Mouth” as a sort of label or trade-name. I called it that because we use our senses and organs to interact with and interface with films and art.

I hand drew the logo because I think that style suits me and the brand more than a graphic-designed vector logo would. I like the imperfection of drawing by hand in one attempt – I think it shows that I’m a creative individual.

I picked green as the main colour because I think it’s eye-catching.

Branding Style Sheet

I created a branding style sheet to explain my branding style. It breaks down my logo in a more visual way.

As you can see, I chose to continue the hand-drawn style when creating this branding style sheet, sort of using the eyes, nose and mouth as characters that explain each concept to the reader. It encapsulates my brand idea and creative personality onto one page.

Website Design

For this brief I created a website. My website is a place where I can post my portfolio and some info and contact details so that any interested people can see some of my work, learn a bit about me and get in touch with any collaborative work, job offers or just to ask questions.

I created my website using HTML and CSS code. Here’s the link: https://alexnewham.000webhostapp.com/

My blog post “Website Progress” documents the process of how I made the website:

It has a Home page that’s a landing page where you can watch my showreel. There is also a portfolio page where you can see some of my work and an about page that tells the reader about me and my career prospects. On the contact page, there is a form that people can use to send me an email, as well as just having my email address on the page.

Conclusion

Over all, considering my brand and digital style will help my career as a filmmaker and animator in the future.
