Introduction
An important part of studying at university is writing essays on a given subject. In an essay, any research that has been presented in the writing must be backed up by a source or reference to prove what you are writing is true.
Using References
To practice using academic references, I tried adding some to a research blog post I wrote. For this task, I used a blog post called “Design in Animation”, the link below.

I copied some sections of the blog post that I wanted to add references to into Microsoft Word. I then used the ‘Manage Sources’ option in the ‘References’ tab to create sources for some facts I included in the text.
Using this window, I could add the links to website articles I used as sources, with the names of authors and dates that the articles were published.

From there, it was as easy as choosing the ‘Insert Citation’ option at the end of sentences that I wanted to add the citation to and then once I had added all the citations, choosing the ‘Bibliography’ option to add a section at the end of the blog post that automatically added in the references with links and captions.

Conclusion
Over all, this was good practice for a technique that I’ll be using a lot during University.
