Turntable Model Homework Task

What Went Well?

I think that I was able to replicate the camera that I chose to model quite well, and the task gave me a chance to practise a lot of 3D modelling.

What did I struggle with?

I didn’t quite get all of the details of the camera into the model: the viewfinder is missing, and the pyramid shape on top of the camera is less accurate to the real thing than I would have liked. Also, I couldn’t figure out how to model some of the details on the lens of the camera.

What did I learn?

I learned that I am actually able to competently 3D model simple objects – I wasn’t sure about my abilities in 3D modelling before the task.

What can I take away from this exercise and what might I change going forward with modelling?

From this exercise, I can implement in my 3D modelling some of the techniques I used with the extrude tool to create intricate details on the buttons and knobs of the camera. Going forward I would want to have more practise attaching 3D objects to each other – I was able to attach the buttons and lens to the main body of the camera so that it looks good, but if you look at the mesh, you can see the mistakes where I attached them.

What can I take away to use in the creative project brief?

For my creative project brief I am doing a 2D animation, so I’m not sure.
